Sykes Point
Sykes Point is the top most viewpoint in Dandeli, Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka. It is 23 km from Dandeli. Sykes Point is named after a British engineer who discovered it. The view point will give you a breathtaking panorama of River Kali flowing down the valley. You may also sight the flying hornbills adding an extra dash of scenic beauty to the bounty of nature that unfolds in front of your eyes. Sykes Point, Ambikanagar near Dandeli is renowned for this view of the River Kali that flows inside the Dandeli Reserve Forest. The viewpoint also offers a beautiful view of the sunset. Bird watchers frequent the site to watch the giant hornbills at this place. The Nagzari Power House of the Kali Project is situated at the bottom of the hill. Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) operates this power station. The surge tank, water moving facility, which feeds the turbines of Nagzari Power House, is located near Sykes Point. Kavala Caves are situated nearer to this point.
